Reviewing hokable 4Pack Bird Cone Collar, We have two birds and every now and then, they fight each other. We’re talking about once every two years or so, usually during spring, when hormones are high (even though they are not mates). Minor injuries on parrots can easily turn into major issues because they are pickers. Pick, pick, picking at anything that is uncomfortable. Previously, we used hair scrunchies around their neck to keep them from picking at any scratches or scrapes, but when I saw these, I thought they might be a good choice also.
I tried them on both our parrots (Red Bellied Poicephalus) and they fit perfectly, after trimming up the neck hole. I should’ve ordered S, not XS, but that’s my oversight. Our female didn’t mind it so much and allowed us to put it on her with no issues. Our male was terrified of it at first and we had to towel him to get it on him. Once it was on, he spent the next 20 minutes picking at it, so we took it off. We are going to dedicate time over the next few weeks to train them that the collar means good things, although, in fairness, if he his picking at it, instead of a wound, it is doing its job
The velcro is good quality, but I suggest putting it on the back of your bird’s neck, to avoid the smart ones from unvelcroing it to take it off. The material is soft and comfortable also. Overall, it’s a good temporary solution to keeping your birds from picking at themselves.
Summer –
I bought the 4Pack Bird Cone Collar for my African Grey to help with recovery, and while the product itself seems well-made and provides good protection, my bird absolutely hates it. He ripped one of the collars up and ended up biting me pretty hard in frustration. It’s clear that it’s effective in keeping him from grabbing his wounds, but he just doesn’t tolerate it well.
If your bird is more tolerant or used to wearing a collar, it might work perfectly. Unfortunately, my Grey wasn’t a fan, so I’d recommend considering your bird’s personality and comfort level before trying this. Overall, good quality product, but not suitable for my feathered friend. Four stars for the quality, but a bit challenging for my bird!

This made a huge difference in my ability to trim my bird’s nails without getting bit. I have a green cheek conure and this fit well, held up nicely, is easy to clean, and is easy enough to get on and off even on a fiesty bird.

These last longer than non-felt types. Our love bird took about 1 day to chew the Velcro off. We needed to buy non-sticky, sewable velcro at Micheal’s to keep repairing the collar but it was still the best solution to keep the bird from pecking at his upper wing until it healed.

Well made, good material and easy to adjust if your bird if needed. Also love that they offer sizes for smaller birds.

It works just give them time to adjust. My little pest of a lovebird hated it the first day but we put it on anyway. After 1 week he is totally fine with it and still able to fly and hop. It will stress them out for a day or two so leave it on and limit the cages space or give extra snuggles and quality time. Also lower all perches etc in case they lose balance during the adjustment period.
