I had a plastic version that worked well for several years but eventually cracked due to being in full sun in the morning hours. This metal one replaced it. I did have to put up shade cloth over this one, the metal heats up quite a bit more in the sun than the plastic one did. Works great.

For a couple years we used a plastic watering bowl that always overflowed (despite dropping the water pressure through TWO regulators). Plus the sun weathered it to death and there was always moss and algae growing on the thing due to the constant leakage.
This stainless steel bowl is 100x better. Easier to clean (except inside around the float is a little tougher), stands up to the sun, and the valve actually shuts the water off when it’s full. I mounted it atop a small drain pan with L-brackets since there isn’t a fence or gate nearby to hang it on.
Installing is easy and the components are all good quality. Now if I can just keep the birds away from it.

Works great as an automatic waterer for my chickens. It’s much easier to clean than previous models I’ve used that have a separate compartment for the float. I haven’t had any problems so far. I like that it came with a new floater; those tend to wear out quickly. I haven’t needed to replace mine. I’ve been using this for about 8 months.

The first one lasted about a year, one of the parts broke. We couldn’t fix it & ordered a new one. It’s so worth it. You don’t have to worry about filling up their water bowl everyday. They always have water. Easy to clean. The dogs love it. Will purchase again if needed!

The metal bowl itself is sturdy, but the automatic waterer mechanism/float and the hose are very cheaply made. I bought three of these to install in my barn for the horses and all three had some sort of issue within a couple weeks. The first on the hose was leaking out of the nut – there was a small hole in the metal. On the other two the plastic float had a seam, where the bit that screws into the mechanism was, that was split apart just a little making it take on water inside the float so the automatic mechanism wouldn’t shut off. I tried to seal the hole, but the whole piece ended up breaking off.
I ended up buying completely new innards for all 3 of them – bought these ones and they work great with no issues.

Excellent quality the quick release connect included. Be careful with the float. It literally broke off in my hand, but they include an extra one which is working great. Happy with purchase.

Routinely have issues w float adjustments, on 2 units, purchased at different times. One for chickens, 1 for goats. Gets too dirty too frequently for chicken coops. Works out ok for stalls other than float adjustments (overflows).
