We have 22 chickens in 2 separate runs. About 3 months ago, we had the “Queen” of the roost decide to defeather a few of our birds necks and backs. She has aggressive periods. So much so that we have to isolate her every so often.
This last bout caused our birds’ resistance to mites and other things hit rock bottom for 6 or 7 of our girls. Since we try to be 100% organic, we tried several different All Natural sprays and powders. None of them seemed to rid our girls of the bad case of mites that 6 or 7 of them had.
We had seen articles on Buff Chicks and how effective that it was for the person writing the article. They seemed to swear by it. Although it is a bit pricey, we decided to give Buff Chicks a try.
We ordered both the package made for putting into their food as well as a larger package with enough quantity to line their hen house with.
First thing that we did was to completely clean out our hen house and change the floor of our run from pine shavings to a Builders Sand and Hemp mixture. As we were taking care of this cleaning, we treated every nook and cranny that we could find for mites, ticks, etc.
We refilled the house and mixed in the bag of Buff Chicks flowers and herbs bedding treatment with the fill materials. We also put a significant portion in each nesting box, mixed in with the nesting pads.
Once we put them back into the run, we also included a mixture of Buff Chicks in their crumble feeder. In the evening, we always take our girls a couple of plates of lettuce, shaved carrots, and blueberries/mangoes/cherries(pits removed), one of the three, as their “Supper Treat”. We started putting the Buff Chicks made for adding to their food to these plates in the evenings.
We really did not expect to see any results for several weeks. To our complete and total amazement, within 7 or 8 days, THE MITES WERE GONE!!
We used magnifying glasses to inspect the chickens, and I kid you not, there were absolutely no mites to be found. Now, I did not inspect all 22 girls. Only the half dozen that showed bad infestations, but the other ones have not shown any signs of mites before treatment.
THIS STUFF WORKS!! The Mites are GONE.
If you have mite issues with your chickens, you will not go wrong investing in a bag of Buff Chicks. It’s made up with Flowers and Herbs that mites and ticks despise, yet it smells really great. Looks like they use quality plants and the product was very fresh in both bags that we purchased.
Now that the mites are gone, we have some healthy looking chickens now. I’m sure with all of the natural ingredients, your chicks should see better health in the future
Definitely a 5-Star Product and we will keep a bag of Buff Chicks handy at all times, going forward, to place in their nesting boxes each time we clean them out. Definitely worth paying a little extra for.

I read the reviews and was I need of a miracle. One of my chick’s wasn’t doing good, these chicks were bought to teach the newborn chicks how to eat and drink without mama; all my feral chicks died so the thought of losing one more was too much. I bought Buff Clucks hoping for a miracle and boy did I get one!!! Yellow Fellow was stumbling, being picked on, walked on, falling over, no energy; I was so scared to lose her. Gave it to her when we got it, by the next day she was more steady on her feet, now she picks on the brooder bully and her sisters. I highly recommend!!! The first video is before Buff Clucks, now she is just like her sisters. All four are flourishing and they LOVE to eat their food.
