My horse has recurrent uveitis, and I ordered this Quiet Ride fly mask to use as both a fly mask and ‘sunglasses’ when I ride. I’ve used it once, and it was great! My horse had good vision, was free from annoying face flies, and was somewhat shaded from the sun. It fits well. The mesh is light and somewhat delicate, not meant to be left on a horse all day in the field or paddock. It is just for riding. Great product! Would like to see the same item with a ‘visor’ over the forehead for the uveitis horse.

Before I buy an equine fly mask I hold it over my own eyes to check out the vision through the mesh and seams. You would be surprised at how some masks will actually impair vision with seams and or heavier mesh and even some of the ‘fun’ patterns mess with vision. These Cashel quiet ride fly masks provide great vision so I now not only use them for riding – but for use out in the pasture as I want my equines to have good vision in case a predator (dog or wildlife or?) approaches – or the occasion I get home after dark. Yes – they are light – but they are well made and hold up quite well and maybe because they are so light and comfortable I find it they stay on better – possibly because there is less attempt to scratch and rub it off?

I love the lightweight design of this mask. My mare’s face is much less irritated by the softness of the mesh. There is no harsh poking like the the stiffer masks do as the material begins to fray. I do wish the dart above the eyes held the mask further away from her eyes. She is a Morgan and has the lovely, big, poppy eyes that the breed is known for and I do wish for more clearance of the eye/lashes.
Update: The mask lasted about a month which was longer than I thought it would with as lightweight mesh as it is. I still wish the clearance over the eyes was a little more pronounced (stiffer darts maybe?). It ripped first around the velcro closures which isn’t surprising. It did get snags and small tears from my mare rubbing her face but they didn’t run or get larger so she could continue to wear the mask. I am replacing it as it seems to be the most comfortable in the heat out of all the masks we have tried.

Fits well on my horse and is a welcome relief from the flies.

My horse and I saw one of these masks on a friend’s horse. At the end of the ride, I tried the mask on my horse. It was quite nice, very light, fitting easily over the bridle. My horse’s head is smaller than my friend’s horse, is I ordered the Arab size, which fits perfectly. It is great to keep those pesky gnats away. I am glad that I got this in anticipation of next year’s fly season.
The mask is light, but not so delicate that I worry about it tearing easily. This mask is good for the trail, but not for everyday use when the horses are loose in the pasture.

I like this mask, but be warned that you need to teach your equine to accept the velcro sound. I had never bought a fly mask before and bought one for my mini donkey – it took a few tries to get him comfortable with that ripping sound. It has stood up reasonable well and my donkey can see out of it easily. He leaves it on all day and we remove it at nice. It is decent quality – there is one little rip – but my donkey rubs his head on stuff a lot, so I don’t think it is the mask’s issue. He only has the one rip.

Gute stabile und Reis feste Qualität!bin mit Preis zufrieden!
Der Klettverschluss ist super, koennte aber für ein Warmblut etwas kürzer sein!

I have a horse with an old eye injury. Because of this he is always in a high UV protection eye mask. I bought this one for trail riding. It is very lightweight. Seems cheap and doesn’t provide UV protection. I suppose it does keep the flies and bugs out of his eyes when we ride but the fabric kinda collapses and could easily end up in his eyes instead of just doing its job. I’m using it but I wouldn’t buy it again and probably should have just returned it.

I have always favored Cashel Fly Masks for my horses, and finding a fly mask to fit my donkeys (one mini and one standard size) has been particularly challenging. But the Cashel Arabian/Small/Pony size fits my both my donkeys like they were tailor made for them. These masks are soft, well made, stay on and last well too. I also appreciate that I can see their eyes through the mask. I highly recommend! Well worth the money.

This fly mask is light weight and much easier to see through than a traditional fly mask. I bought it for an older horse whose eye sight is no longer the best and it is working well.

I use these on my two girls during the days and haven’t tried it while riding. My mule does very well with it, she rolls and gets it muddy, dunks her face in the water tub and rubs her face on the scratching post and it holds up very well. The felt on the edges keeps them soft against their faces, so no rub sores or tender spots and they fit very well. They’re sheer enough that you can see their eyes. I got these last year and they’re still like new. Just ordered another one for another horse, well worth the money.
