I purchased this so my dog could chew safely on his Himalayan sticks. Understandably the dog just sees it all as one big chew. This item was destroyed after the first 10minutes of using it. On top of it there is a strong artificial plastic smell that also doesn’t disappear after putting it in the dishwasher. Don’t buy it! Some items weren’t needed in the past hundreds of years of pet ownership and are also still not needed today. This is one of them. Most useless dog toy invention that I came across so far.

Figuring out the right size chew, length and width is sometimes frustrating. When I do, it does make the chew last substantially longer. I have a beagle boxer mix. It is very durable, but for my size dog it’s strength might not be the right match for her, because she doesn’t always want to chew it very long unless I shove some soft treats in the edges, so she is more successful at getting something out of it quickly. How securely I shove it in there, or how much I let it stick out the top, greatly influences how long the chew stays in there and how long it takes my dog to finish it.

Great product that lasts awhile even though I have a 2 year old chocolate lab super chewer! I love that it is silicone and soft so he can chew on it and it doesn’t disintegrate/cannot be shredded. With some strength you can make pretty much any chew fit and it stays secure! I don’t have to worry about my boy swallowing any pieces!

My 9 month old bernedoodle LOVES Yak chews, and I love giving them to him knowing they are high protein and don’t splinter. BUT my anxious dog-mom self would hyper monitor him when he had them, worried about the choking risk. This toy gives me a lot of peace of mind. I still monitor closely when he has them but I’m definitely more confident in his safety.
Also, Yak chews aren’t cheap, and this toy helps them last around 3x as long. My guy likes the challenge of chewing them with the toy, and while we wait for another order of Yak chews he is content to play with the empty toy itself.
He is a VERY aggressive chewer (I’ve got the shaven-down baseboards to prove it) and this has held up with no visible damage. No weird smell, either.
I’d recommend this a hundred times over. Do it!

So I had hoped my dogs would be able to use this. Mixed reviews but I thought I would give it a try. My Yak bones dont fit because because this does not have enough bend to slip them in. Size medium, Size small Yak slide around and fall out. The Chews I bought Himalayan brand thinking it would work…nope they slide out. This is a usless product if you can’t make any treats work with it. I am just going back to the Bonehead holder it works fantastic and they lasted me for over a year now. Sending these back!

Pros:
Makes cheese chew last longer.
Our dog seems to stay engaged for a long period of time.
Will us as chew toy even when empty.
Cons:
Don’t know what brand other folks are using for cheese chews but the chews I use can not fit bigger then a medium in.
Since our dog likes to use as chew toy, it is not likely to last as we are already seeing some tearing from chewing on it.
Our dog will finish the center section of the cheese chew that is easy to get to, then we have two short pieces that will fall out of the toy. If we just give our dog a loose cheese chew, we only end up with one small piece. Part of the attraction to the toy was being able to avoiding having the dog chew on pieces small enough to potentially choke on.
Bottom line. cheese chews do last longer. Dog loves playing with the toy. Durability is questionable as chewing damage is visible after the second or third cheese chew. Does not eliminate and actually increases potential for dog having small pieces to chew on. More susceptible to damage from chewing than I hoped for. Like any chew toy, SUPERVISION IS REQUIRED. Level up supervision dependent on dog and chewing habits

So, if you’ve ever met a Great Pyrenees, you know they’re enormous. With enormity comes enormous, powerful jaws and big, strong teeth. Miss Xena, my Pyrenees puppy, was decimating an XL cheese chew in about five minutes, quite literally. That gets expensive, real fast. And it’s no fun for Xena, when the five minutes are up and mom doesn’t have anymore pricey cheese for her. Enter the jughead. This thing is a game changer, seriously. She’s been chewing the same chew for 2 days and while it’s got tooth marks all over the exposed parts of the cheese, that sucker remains intact and she’s still enthralled by it. This is fantastic.
It was very easy to put the cheese inside, stays in securely. No complaints there. My only issue with it is the horrible odor and the flavor. How do I know it tastes bad? I know, that sounds really weird. I didn’t lick it, I swear. I accidentally put my hand to my mouth after handling it, and the flavor is nasty, strong, and bitter. Wash it before you give it to your dog, and wash your hands after you handle it for the first time, or you will feel like you ate one of those earwax flavor joke jellybeans for the next few hours.
Anyway, five stars from me. My dog is thrilled. The other three dogs are pretty upset with me though, for only getting one. I’m kicking myself too, I bought this during the Amazon pet days sale for $10 and now it’s double that. But it’s worth it, so I just ordered two more. Can’t disappoint the furry masses, after all, in the name of saving a few dollars. I’m thinking I’ll make it up in savings on cheese chews anyway.

My puppy was not impressed with the smell of the chew, and it was very difficult to get rid of it. The chew’s advertising is also very misleading, as you think the Super 100% Natural Cheese Chew comes with it, which it doesn’t. You ask yourself, what are you advertising more, the chew or the insert?

I bought these for my two super chewers. They can destroy toys in under 10 minutes that are supposedly for nearly indestructible but sadly most do not make it in our house for long. I love the Himalayan chews, although they can finish one in a day, they last considerably longer than most chews. As we all know yak chews are expensive and I was doling them out sparingly. I saw these and after reading reviews thought, why not? I buy the large yak chews and they fit in the orange holder just fine. The openings allow for interest in the chew while preventing them for destroying it quickly. I hear them munching on the holder itself and so far there is zero damage. The first chew lasted just over a week before I took them out and allowed them to finish them off, took less than 30 minutes, and inserted new chews into the holders. That was several days ago and I believe they will hold for about another week before I remove them to replace again. They chew on them off and on throughout the day and carry them everywhere, often exchanging them between themselves because trading among dogs has more appeal for some reason. The chews themselves are being chewed on, there are teeth marks all over them but the holder prevents outright chomping. I’m super pleased with these and feel they will last a good long time while also making the yak chews last longer and go further, making us all happy.

Brought this for my cavalier that choose like a Rottweiler and thankfully it has defeated him, I put the medium yakbar inside it then put it in the microwave and it puffed up and over a week later he still hasn’t got it all out not even by half fantastic buy and a lot cheaper than the branded version
