As with any toy for birds, use caution and close monitoring. when introducing a new one. The material that was provided for hanging this toy that is also used to hold toy parts on, came lose with play and one of my birds got one of his feet caught in it from it wrapping around the bottom of his leg (He was unable to get himself free) . Being that I was around in the same space, I was able to get him out rather quickly by cutting it off with scissors. I would also toss the hooks it came with in the trash and use baby links or a pear link to hang it. As far as the rest of the toy, they enjoyed the different natural materials to chew on. Lots of different texture to be appealing to birds. They were able to destroy it rather quickly but 4 were interested at the same time, lol. No chemical smell upon opening the plastic bag it was in. As a person who typically makes all their own bird toys, I give this 1 star on safety from hooks and for the “stringing” materials that easily come lose and 5 stars elsewhere.

My budgies absolutely love this toy. They have spent hours tearing through the cardboard and have made a huge hole in it. One of my budgies is a bit high-strung and this gives her a great way to use up some of her energy. I will be buying more of these.
