I was no aware there was supposed to be a perch for the cage till I saw the picture provided for this review! I received no such perch in the cage I bought! I am not a fan of the cage opening being on the top rather than the side. The water and food bowls are way too small.

This is really nice carrying cage. However, it is smaller than I thought it would be. Parakeets have long tails. I can picture their tails not fitting into this carrier very comfortably.
A love bird would work better (which is the type of bird that I have). They don’t have long tails. Or maybe even a finch or two. I would think any smaller sized parrot that does not have a long tail would fit just fine.
Other than that, the carrier is sturdy and super easy to set up and break back down for easy storage. I recommend this carrier when taking your pet (small bird, lizard, or even a pet rat or hamster) in for a vet check.

I had to take my parrotlet to the vet and and had nothing to take her in. So she ended up getting transported in a tomato clamshell. She was very angry about this. During her recovery period they didn’t want her flapping too much. Rather than put her back in the tomato clamshell, I went ahead and purchased this. It made for an excellent recovery cage. And next time I need to transport her, I have a much more sophisticated option than container of tomatoes.
