   My daughter has one of these for her cats and I saw how great it was for their freedom without making her get up and down constantly to let them in so I decided to try one as well. After much review I decided on this model based on user reviews and the description of the product.

   First, it did go in easily because I measured exactly like they said to measure which I think is important. There are knobs to shrink or expand the width that makes a tight fit. It was easy to do. Next, I put the black foam strip across the to make a tight air seal between the top of the insert and the bottom of your window. All of that was easy. At this point, the window is essentially ready to go.

   You can, and I think should, go one step further and seal the space left at the top of the raised window and the stationary part. I installed mine during a cold snap so it was easy to feel where the draft was pouring in. The instructions say to use the white strip material to seal this area. Mine arrived folded within the package and kinked in some places. I’m sure if I had figured out a way to lay the stripping out flat to get rid of the memory from being folded and kinked in the shipping box but it was cold outside and I didn’t do that. This was a mistake. The stripping wouldn’t lay flat to adhere properly to the window to make a good seal. It did improve things but because of where my latches were, even if it had laid flat there would still be two areas of about 3 inches that would allow the wind to come in because of the latches and not being able to put any stripping there. My solution was to take the remaining stripping and go outside my window and place the extra at the bottom of the raised window and that seemed to do the trick even though some of it was kinked too. You might want to consider double stripping at the top and bottom like I did it you don’t feel it is weatherproof enough for you.

   I hope I didn’t confuse anyone. When my window is raised, there is a 1 inch + space between the raised window pane and the stationery window pane so air was able to flow in. This is what I was. attempting to seal with the above steps.

   My cats are still in the learning phase of using the door. My younger cat is likely to catch on fairly quickly. She is not scared of the door. My older cat will take more time to get used to the freedom this will give him.

   The door swings easily but the magnet quickly holds it in place once the window is opened. I feel like it seals air out as much as it can. I’m pleased with that aspect of it. It also seems weather tight from the sides of the insert. Really the only problem with weather tightness was from my issue above.

   I think I will purchase a device to lock the window so it can’t be opened from outside for burglars to get in, similar to those that are used to prevent opening a sliding glass door. This would be a nice option for the company to offer as an add on purchase but I will get one on my own.

   I am happy with my purchase and only gave 4 stars because of the sealing strip from the gap of the windows being less than perfect. Instructions did not cover what to do about that. I do think the quality is good so I think it will last as it gets use through the years.

   I looked a long time to find something that will fit my narrow window and keep a break between the o=inside and outside. While nothing is perfect, it makes a reasonable seal.

   My application: a narrow 21” window (inside measurement) between the inside and a 3-season room.

   Installation was very easy. The bracket is spring-loaded and it sits securely in the window sash. Hand bolts allow tightening so it doesn’t move or loose its place, making the fit secure.

   The door flap has a seal around it to keep the seal and it doesn’t move a reasonable job. It also has a know to prevent the door from swinging either way, swings in only, swings out only, and swings out and in.

   This is not a complaint. Rather, it exemplifies the quality and flexibility of the design. The flap bottom has two magnets which align with two magnets in the frame. This keeps the door sealed.

   However, for cats, it may be too strong a seal so I used Amazon’s AI (Rufus) to see if this could be modified to make it cat-friendly. While it *did* indicate it *can* be, it could not adequately describe how. I took it upon myself to figure it out for myself.

   Here are my instructions:
   – The door flap is secured with a plastic frame for looks and placement. It uses 8 screws to keep it in place.
   – Four screws secure a facade which needs to be gently pried using a thin, flat screwdriver or something like it. The knob that locks the flap must be gently removed. It takes some effort so be ready.
   – The other side holds the rest of the bracket in place. Chances are it will need to be removed from the other frame.
   – The two bottom magnets are secured with two very small Phillips screws/washers.
   – The magnets are secured in their place pretty well. I had to use a medium flat blade screwdriver and leverage each from its place.
   – I reassembled all of it easily. The flap moves mostly freely. It’s time for the cats to learn to push it.

   I installed this full-size window pet door for my cats, and it has made a noticeable difference in convenience.

   Installation:
   The setup process was relatively straightforward. It fit securely into the window frame, and I was able to get it in place without modifications. As long as you measure your window carefully beforehand, installation should be easy for most people.

   Build Quality:
   The materials feel solid and well-constructed. Once installed, the unit stays stable and doesn’t shift around with use. It feels like it can handle regular in-and-out traffic without issues.

   Functionality:
   The flap opens and closes smoothly, and my pets adjusted to it quickly. It provides easy access without needing to constantly open the door, which has been especially helpful for daily routines.

   Fit for Pets:
   The size is appropriate for cats and small dogs. There’s enough clearance for comfortable use without them having to squeeze through.

   Weather & Insulation:
   It does a decent job minimizing drafts, though like most pet doors, it’s not completely airtight. For moderate climates (I’m on the Oregon Coast), it performs well, but it’s something to consider if you live in an area with extreme temperatures.

   Overall Impression:
   This is a practical solution if you want to give pets independent access through a window without complicated installation. It’s sturdy, functional, and offers good value for the price.
