At first I was super excited to use these pads, they fit perfectly in the rent a coop brooder and can be used under pens when the chicks are ready for a little more adventure. They absorb well and are easy to clean up.
However after a few minutes the chicks tore holes in the liner, trying to eat it. I think these liners would work great for 1 day old chicks, but ours are 13 days old and I worry they are a safety concern.

Oh my goodness, I thought this would be a good product but it caused one of my chicks to lose TWO toe nails, causing a bloody mess and pain for the chick. Everyone knows chicks poop a lot. They walk through it and it gets on their feet. With normal bedding they can sort of scrape it off. With this it just picks up fibers from the pad causing a clumpy ball of poop to form that hardens on their feet and cuts off circulation, or worse, rips off their toenails when the balls eventually come off on their own if you somehow don’t catch it immediately. I literally change this pad out every single day, and clean their feet, which is a gigantic pain. I will be returning to normal bedding and will not be using this unsafe product again. One of my chicks is now permanently deformed due to this product. The bleeding was so bad I had to use cornstarch to stop it. Extremely disappointed in this particular product.

Great concept, but did not work well enough for my needs. Waste absorption is not a high as I was hoping, while my ducklings were in the brooder.
