These Zoo Med Stainless Steel Feeding Tongs, 10 inch are the perfect size for feeding small pet reptiles like my bearded dragon. Held properly, they extend your reach by about 6-7″, allowing you to maintain a safe distance from the mouth of your pet (if he/she is an “overeager” eater who tends to bite fingers) and reducing the intimidation factor for the pet as well (if he/she is a hatchling that isn’t used to your hands yet and tends to shy away from your reach). Likewise, these tongs take the “ew” factor out of grabbing slimy/skittery creepy-crawly bugs if you don’t like the feeling of touching feeder insects with your hands.
My bearded dragon never bites and I’m not shy about handling insects. In my case, I bought them just because it makes it easier to reach into the corners of my dragon’s enclosure to pick up stray pieces of mustard greens, dead insects, or whatever. It’s a lot easier than trying to reach all the way in with my arm which tends to scare my dragon, who is still acclimating to his new home/owner.
If you’re looking for well made, handy feeder tongs, I highly recommend these.
[UPDATE 1-9-2017: These have turned out to be a great purchase. My bearded dragon has learned that the tongs represent feeding time, so I can use them to get him to try new food items that he might not otherwise recognize as food. For example, I put a few sliced blueberries in his cage as a treat one day, but he never touched them. A few days later, I tried again but used the tongs. Since I use the tongs occasionally to feed him crickets, roaches, and super worms, he knows the tongs usually have tasty items at the end, so he promptly tried and ate the blueberries when I offered them that way. Pretty neat.]

My fat frog loves eating from these tongs, my skinny one doesn’t. This isn’t surprising. the fat one is brave, the skinny one won’t eat til I’m not looking. My complaint with the tongs is there is no soft rubber tip. But then again it doesn’t say there is one. They are strong, long durable. Just well made tongs. And hey, one of my frogs likes it! He does go after the tongs so crazily (I think the store must have fed him with tongs, cause he lunges at THE TONGS – even without a bug) I’m worried he’ll injure himself.

This is just what I needed. I have two leopard geckos, one of which isn’t an amazing hunter and for whatever reason never seemed to catch on to eating bugs out of a bowl. I had been ‘hand’ feeding her using a pair of tweezers to hold her prey. It worked okay, but tweezers are short and put my fingers a bit too close to the action for comfort. These are great though. My gecko had no issues taking food from them and I don’t have to worry about getting accidentally bitten anymore.

These tongs work great for feeding my juvie to sub adult carpet pythons. For my larger adults it’s a bit tricky to hold the larger prey items, and the risk of getting bit is to high. So, great for smaller snakes, but would recommend something larger for the larger species. I was given this product at a discounted price for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Works perfectly! They are nice and long so I can put worms in my tank and not have to get my fingers close to them. I was worried that the tongs would be too thick at the bottom for my leopard gecko to take the food from, but it’s no problem at all.

As you can see from the picture these tongs are Super huge! But im sure someone reading this review will say “IvE sEeN bIgGeR.” I like these for the days Mr. Mander feels extra enthusiastic at feeding time. As you can also see, he’s a very dangerous derp, especially when Haaaaanrgy.
All n all I’m happy with my purchase, Mr. Manader’s happy with my purchase, the Dubai roaches aren’t happy with my purchase. 10/10
